Resize keeps the top-left of your chart. Cropping requires confirmation and remains undoable. Imported special elements are preserved; resizing those files is blocked to avoid moving them incorrectly.
Validation checks the supported structure and reports preserved elements. Opening adds a new project and keeps existing projects. Nothing is uploaded.
With the chart focused: arrows move, Space or Enter acts, and 1–9 choose threads. Drag to paint or mark stitches.
Gradients map screen shades to the nearest catalog thread. Brush changes shade with distance from its start; rectangle fill changes shade between dragged corners. Review real floss before stitching.
In Track mode, completed squares turn gray. On touch screens, scroll outside the chart.
Gray squares show completed stitches. Thread legend counts show completed / total.
Choose a thread above before editing it. Swatches are approximate; compare real floss. Catalog colors come from Stitchen's DMC table. Custom colors keep their own code.
Replacement moves full crosses and their completion to another listed thread, including hidden drawing layers. Original palette entries and special stitch elements are kept for OXS compatibility.
A blend shares one symbol and completion flag. Its recipe is kept in project backups and the Stitchen OXS extension; the standard OXS thread code also lists both threads. Screen mixes are approximate.
Convert your own artwork or photo locally. This creates a new design; it does not read symbols from photographed pattern pages. Review the preview before using it.
Crop removes the stated percentage from each original edge before rotation and fitting. Source overlays stay local, are optional, and never appear in printed charts.
Text uses a stitch-sized block alphabet. Prepare it, then click the chart to place it. Colorways change thread colors; shapes and completion stay unchanged. Copy a selection before moving or rotating it.
Close colors use RGB screen distance and favor the more-used thread. Small connected islands use the neighboring color that touches them most. Neither action changes imported special stitch elements; their original palette remains available. Preview carefully before applying.

Fabric calculator
Enter the chart size and add a margin on each edge.
Fabric count means threads per inch. Over two on 28-count fabric gives 14 stitches per inch. Margins apply to each edge; check your framing and finishing needs before cutting.
The Stitchen app
Try pattern import, stitch tracking, and thread inventory in the app preview.
PreviewReview imported charts against the original. Keep downloaded backups while the app is in preview.
PDF and image import, plus OXS charts. Automatic detection tries first; guided setup helps with awkward layouts and scanned paper.
Find a thread or symbol, mark completed stitches, and note parked threads.
Floss and pattern inventories put what you have beside what a project needs. Fabric planning helps you prepare.
Review the detected chart and correct its thread colors. Save it as OXS alongside your original pattern.
Version 1.1.1+3 · extract the ZIP and open Stitchen. Keep project backups while using the preview.
App pricing has not been decided. The app's local tools do not require a sync subscription. Optional cloud sync is planned.
Yes. Create, import OXS, convert artwork images, mark stitches, calculate fabric, download backups, and print without an account or payment. Your browser's print dialog provides the PDF option.
No. OXS imports and artwork conversions run locally, and named projects save in this browser. Download project backups to keep layers and hidden progress outside the browser. Clearing browser data or using a private window can remove saved projects. They won't appear in another browser automatically.
The designer opens OXS charts and project backups, and converts artwork or photos into new full-cross designs. It does not read symbols from a PDF or photographed chart. Use the separate app preview for pattern-page import. PDF layouts vary, so check detected charts and thread mappings against the original.
